The Poebeast (Poet)
Shhh.
is not related to Edgar Allen except by blood.
But like Poe, leads all concerned down
down
down
a dark spooky tunnel killing, by the way,
correct grammar.
Poebeasts are thin skinned and covered
with extreme eccentricities to awe
what they happily think are lesser beasts.
This leads to trouble.
AND to most Poebeasts being digested by their inferiors.
These supposedly include Prosbeasts
far more pro at capturing
gamey rewards.
Poebeasts are some…what? innocent creatures.
In company with other Poebeasts, they tend
to scratch bite claw to be first
on an open reading list.
When not forever grunting its hunger.
Poebeast sounds weird musical cries in the wilderness.
This act is rather pathetic.
As the wilderness is rather empty.
Few wildflowers hear its song.
Those that do are quite bewildered.
Poebeast is so grateful for the least nod
it almost always frees its prey.
Thus Poebeast is as hungry as ever.
Starts to sing again
if only to himself.

The Publico (Publisher)
A poet’s nemesis
Proud of its overweening reject crowing
it rears the same old deadly quill erect.
Admiring How-do-you-do literati beasts
are almost limitless.
Publico must advance million-cocktail autographs
for safe populars
While waiting to death anonymous poetry books.
Publico’s overweight superiority is assured
by fat markets.
Should a genius happily be in the wild state
faddy attempts to annex the entire state.
Populous states do, as a matter of fat,
bring in the bacon.
Only genius doesn’t care whether it is lean or fat.
Ultra-sophisticated Publicos gorge on
‘The Blood of the Poet.’
This is not only right is might is money all right.
Poetry is not only wrong is song is dollar gone.
After all is oversaid and overdone
Publico does have a job . . . . . to do
