Poem Beasts

The Popex

The most powerful explosion of all

Most dangerous, ravenous and uproarious
of all beasts and all poems
Popex stalks the earth.
Rarely standing on its original four feet
it mostly lays down on the job.
Any Humbeast who dares to look at the job
immediately turns to stone and worse
also lays down on the job.

This overwhelmingly common animal’s
most ardent, dangerous admirer oddly
dotes on spiritual garbage.
billions of unnatural Humbeasts worship him
while continuing production of physical garbage.
Enough to bury Earth
or explode same.
Some of the more innocent creatures
blame their insane explosion
on cabbages or storks.
but innocence is barking up the wrong hydrant.

Or perhaps the right tree top.
for down will come baby
cradle and bomb.
