Poem Beasts

The Puncracker (Punster)

Some joke

This beast generally falls, man.
For a two dimensional flat laugh.
Puncrackers will do anything funny enough
to self hurt then reinflate
a nervous kiss-gag.

Misplaced cigars silently explode.
Enough to puff an iron ‘General’ to huff home.
Beat ‘Old Stone Face’ to prolonged gag to death.
A southern express not whistling ‘Dixie’
lurches body tossed humor.
The biggest laugh sewed up in stitches
buttons holding tinsel tin ears.

Jokes played only on the flatter beasts.
Caught dumb.
Looking too serious.

(To write a funny poem about genius
funny is not as funny as it looks)

(Dedicated to Buster Keaton, his genius,
his silent movie ‘The General’ and to Guy
and Diane Ham)
